Went to one of the LFS today and got me a Sea Hare to clean up th GHA in my tank. While looking at some of their SPS I saw a Red Bubble Tip Anemone. It was about the size of a baseball and was $45. I thought not bad so I had the associate bag it up as well. I drove home and placed it into the tank. It stayed drawn up for about an hour or so. I walked past the tank a few minutes later and discovered it had split into 2 about the size of ping pong balls. So I got 2 for $45. Not a bad deal!

I do have a question though. What causes them to split and why did this one split when it was still so small? Also I want it to get big and not split again, What can I do to prevent it from splitting before it gets big?

stress or an injury will cause it to split. water changes or anything it doesnt like. i cut the foot a little on mine and it split. then it split again a few weeks later.

Stress. If thye are injured they dont tend to split. They use their energy to heal up,then split!

I did do a water change during this time. Nitrates and Phospates are a little elivated but nothing rediculous. Hopefully they will both be fine.

i kinda made mine split by moving rock around and i think i pinned a rock onto its foot. the next day i saw 2 nems.
i was glad it split cause i was gonna cut it into 1/4's a week later.
