really cool flame angel

Got this guy yesterday, apparently he was a normal flame angel but just grew out if his black color. Still new to the tank so it hides alot.

They are bashful and this may be a misbar flame which is generally of value

Nice fish. Flames are variable in color, mostly depending on collection point.
That's the funny thing, when the store sold the fish to the original owner it had the typical black bars. When it was brought back the first question was what happened to the stripes.

maybe the owner already had 1 didn't like that 1 and swapped them around?

No, from what I was told it was someone getting out of the hobby, they kept it in a reef tank and it never ate coral so I'm keeping my eye on it

Flames do vary a lot. There is a region where they don’t always have prominent stripes.

thats actually interesting, i knew there was some variation but with this i might actually know where it came from.

Cool looking fish. Flames are going for between $450 and $600 after covid and the Hawaii ban... The UK price is a bargain.
