Just sold some Kessils I was planning to use for the sump to grow macro and more coral. I'll be going with a single strip of LEDs and 4 T5 bulbs. I'll have to measure it out and make sure I have enough room for it all before buying the equipment.

Nice setup! Who built your stand? I'm looking to have a stand built for a new build.

Thx!

I had a local builder do the stand for me. He's built all 3 of my current aluminum stands and a lot for others as well. I'm sure the guy would built them and ship if needed.

Thanks, I just PMed you for their contact info.

I'll get the info to you in a bit.

Didn't get much done tonight, or rather there isn't much to do. The 210G is still cycling BUT the good news is that I was able to quiet ALL the tanks down to no noise!!! Bad news is that the water heater went down yesterday, it turned out to be a bad heating element. Simple fix, I'm an AC tech so that was easy work.

Did a quick parameter check on the water quality, all tanks are at 1.026 salinity. Alkalinity and calcium are almost at target on the larger tank (7.7dKH & 420ppm.) Adjustments will be made before corals are introduced but what kind of shocked me was the cube tank was really low in alkalinity yet the corals and especially the SPS are doing awesome! I'll have to do a larger water exchange via the Apex DOS system with the main system. Once the 210G is set up, the cube will be linked together so this won't happen as often.

First, seeing that I recently mounted my Gyre XF130 on the overflow, I came across a deal too good to let go. Needless to say, I ended up getting the XF150 for dirt cheap. As I was cleaning it, I saw that the wiring going into it was broken and showing the wires inside. I contacted Coral Vue and they shipped out a new motor block, same with the controller considering it was hard to rotate. This will be put on over the weekend as I need to clean the XF130.

New on the left and old controller on the right.

I finally made time to install the Apex AFS fish feeder. Well I couldn't resist and bought some fish for the tank, although the tank is a new set up I feel confident that it has gone through a cycle already.

Other news, I got a Chevron tang and a Naoko wrasse. I know its too early but couldn't resist! Also got a bunch of clean up crew composed of peppermint shrimps, astrea snails, red banded trochus snails, and margarita snails. What I'm really happy about getting are the halloween and electric blue leg hermit crabs. I've always seen then on live aquaria but could never find them or too cheap to put out the money. I'll snap a few photos later this weekend.

Still need a few more things to complete the system:
T5 retro kit for sump/refugium
LED bar for sump/refugium
Apex EB8

Nice choice, love the little Halloween and electric blue hermits. Looking forward to seeing this all put together! So much potential with that aquascape!

Yeah, I had to pull the trigger. Got like 15 Halloween and 6 Electeic blue leg hermits. Let's see how they work out in the tank, they are beautiful creatures. Good thing about them are that they are big so they won't get lost and will eat anything. Tank is being cleaned up by the clean up crew nicely, just need to find a way to keep the snails away from the overflow.

Good news is that the Chevron and Naoko wrasse survived so far. Naoko for sure is eating, we'll see about the Chevron. There's Dragons breathe macro algae in the tank and I've seen my other tangs munch on that.

I'll have some photos up tomorrow, spend a little bit of time cleaning the glass.

I love how u transformed the old tank into a new living ecosystem, good job

Thanks, it took a bit of work to get it looking decent. Just got in some cerium oxide to try and clean up the stains near the top of the glass. We'll see how that goes.

Also gotta take some pictures of all the tanks. I want to update my threads.

Got around to finishing off the aquascape. Picked up a few nice pieces of tonga branch from the LFS today. This should give me plenty of room for acros and such.

Fish room a little cleaned up. Still need to address some wiring on the older system. I still see room for one more tank!!!

Another view of the tank:

Current inhabitants:
They seem to be best buddies that or the Chevron tang is too juvenile that it's clueless for now.

I just ordered a couple of those halloween hermits too! They're so cool looking! This build is awesome. Great work on all the DIY stuff. I'm sure you saved a ton of money. Can't wait to see it progress!

Thanks guys!

The DIY stuff I do because I enjoy it. Anyone can pay others to do things but I get something out of it knowing it was done by me. It's not about the money either, we all know how expensive it can get with the bare equipment alone. LOL
