I want to build a simple portable recirculating pump and filter.
To quickly remove suspended particulate.
A friend suggested an inexpensive above ground pool filter. They are pump and filter in one body. Water in, water out, back into tank.
However reviews seem to indicate they can leak and I would have get longer hoses.
So, I am thinking about building this myself. Portable 120 volt water pump, whole house filter (I already have this) and a couple hoses I can get in any length cut. Add a few plumbing fittings and I should have something that will work. This will be portable and will only be used for an hour or so after maintenance.
I have seen this in person at a LFS when I was a kid. This is why I am thinking of this.
Before I spend any money I wanted to hear from fish people and see what you think.
TIA
John

How about a canister filter?
I should have mentioned a canister filter. I want to move more water with larger hoses.
A canister filter will not do what I want. But the principle is the same.
I want a quick turnover and it’s only for a short while. I will rely on the HOB’s for regular filtration.
