I have 3 pistol shrimp in my 40 gallon tank, a Tiger Pistol shrimp with a prawn goby and two Red Banded. The Tiger pistol and goby have claimed about a third of the rockwork. The two Red Banded, Each about an inch long, have joined forces under a 6” rock island. They have lived together for over a month now. Do they need goby partners or will they be ok on their own.

They will be OK on their own.

Have you ever experienced more then two pistols together?

My two Red Banded pistol shrimp are still together under their rock and the Tiger Pistol shrimp has claimed territory that butts up to their rock but the center of his area is about 8“ away from their home. They all seem to be doing ok. The 2 peppermint shrimp have claimed the rockwork above the Tiger shrimp, while the cleaner shrimp stays on the opposite end of the tank.
