Hello all.

I just received a new Red Brittle Starfish (RBS), I have a 20 g reef mix tank with many corals, 3 small fish. I feed 1-2 times per day mix food. What is the frequency recommended to feed RBS? Should I throw small pieces of shrimps/clams ? Since I feed small amounts I think the RBS will not have enough food. Today I gave it a small piece of frozen food and it ate it all.

Thank you

They feed in algae daily and meaty supplements, 2-3x a week is sufficient. Brittle starfish are omnivores eating both algae and meaty marine foods. In a reef tank, they should be fed finely chopped meaty marine foods (shrimp, squid, marine fish, frozen marine fish food, mysis shrimp) and algae. They will also eat detritus and other material off of well established live rock.
