Is your red planet more red or green? I have a few and they tend to vary by par. The colony is at 375 par and the frag is at 250.

Totally light related, with a splash of nutrients. My mother colony way aways red, the frags greenish until they moved up. The Acropora below the RP is a Millepore, of course.

In my experiance---Frags tend to be red & green after they start to encrust. As the coral grows the only green will be at the base.......as it tables out it's all red with white tips. The coralites can be pink/red to all red depending on lighting and nutrients. Polps will be all red.

Totally agree with this. My colony is solid red with no green and gets blasted by metal halides. But my frag tank also gets blasted with metal halide. Every frag I make usually turns green with just a little red within a couple of weeks.

I started with a 1/4" frag which was mostly green. First image below. The second image is the coral now although not a great photo. I apologize. Now it is red with polyp extension all day. Pale white tips. The coral has fallen off and landed on a Frogspawn below it, dragged around when small by a urchin, and phosphates ranging from 1.72 ppm all the way down to .23 ppm. It doesn't skip a beat.

TL; DR - mine started green but now the more common red with lighter color tips.
