I'm thinking about adding this acro to my tank. Does anyone have any experience with the Red Planet? Is it known to be hardy, growth rate?...

Was a good grower for me until the green slimer over took it.
If the red planet turns green, it needs more light.
 
Acro growth, color, hardiness, etc... is based on multiple factors but red planet would be one of the easier ones to start with
 
ORA Red Planet is one of my favorite old school SPS. I highly recommend it. However, you still need to make sure you have all your parameters stabilized and in check. Higher par will bring out all reds whereas lower par will bring out the greens. I kept it somewhere in the middle to get a good mix of both colors. It is a tabling SPS and I found if you mount it outwards/sideway from the rock it grows faster. Very hardy coral that has gone through all sorts of swings for me without trouble.

When I mounted it middle of the tank:
