Hello fellow reefers,

I’m trying to find a good form of measure for my mixing station so I can start doing automatic WC’s. I’m currently using the blue bucket and have a brute 30 gal as a reserve container and was wondering if anyone follows a certain formula of cup of salt mix per gallons. I was mixing 2.5 gallons per cup of salt but I always find myself having to adjust the salinity at the end and would like so have it automated so I don’t have to perform water changes myself.

Currently have my salinity at 1.025 and keeping Nems and LPS. And I’m mixing about 15 gallons of RODI weekly.

Thanks for any input!

In general most salts will be 1/2 cup per gallon at 35 ppt. I use red sea blue bucket myself and this gets me very close. I have a 42 gallon brute with a fill line. If I take a measurement from this line each 1/2 cup will raise my salinity by 1 ppt. So I mix a little light at first let it mix a couple hours then measure again and adjust from there.

Will follow this and see where it gets me, thanks so much!

Red sea is definitely 1/2 per a gallon for 1.027sg/35ppt

I really like their salt as it mixes clear rapidly and can be used in minutes.
