I was planning to mix up about 30 gallon in Brute 34gal can which given 10% weekly changes in my tank is good for 5-6 weeks. Red Sea site says the mix should be used within 7 days.. yet I read most people usually store a month or more. Thoughts?

I emailed Red Sea and this was their reply..

"It is not recommended to store your mixed saltwater for extended periods of time, as this will result in precipitation and reduced levels of Calcium and Alkalinity in the water."

I suppose that makes sense but I cannot imagine you would loose too much in 3-4 weeks

I would do it anyway and test it. I can't see how it would be a problem.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
