Red Sea filter Roller Maintenance?

How are yall maintaining yall's filter roller? biggest pain is always trying to get the old roll off since its rolled so tight. Any Cleaning? Monthly weekly?

Hi, yeah exactly the same problem with the old roll tight. I clean the roller when a change to new fleet.

Just so gross and most of the time I have to sit there and either cut it in half with a knife or push on the roll to try and slide it off.

It's the only thing thats a pain with changing it out. I normally stick a butter knife over that little lip that gets stuck on the end and it helps slip it off.
Every time I change a roll I give the bottom roller tray thing a good cleaning.

I struggled early in to change out the fleece. Then I came across a method that works really good for me.

Remove both ends on the spool, push the two center parts out one end, then grab the end sticking out and turn it back and forth to loosen the fleece. I find it pulls out really easily then.

I also clean the lower unit every time I replace the fleece. And inspect the unit to see if it has anything growing on it, or build up of gunk.
