What are your thoughts on Red Sea Reefer S 850 vs custom?

Red Sea Reefer is around 6K with plumbing, sump, and easy set up

vs Custom 180G with metal stand is about 7.5K without canopy then professional installation and sump on top of 7.5K.

My rep is saying aluminum stand is a lot weaker than the solid steel tank and will rust as easily. I currently have a 350G acrylic but poorly designed so wanted to downgrade around 72x24x24.

I’m just not sure about how long Red Sea will last vs custom since I’m already traumatized from the poorly designed acrylic tank.
Just want a tank that is built well and won’t need repair or replacing for 10 years… at least haha or is that too much of a hope?

If you got the cash go custom. That way you get just what you want. A correctly done aluminum stand it just as strong as a steel stand.
I went steel because my wife is a welder, lol.
Also prefer ghost type overflows and peninsula tanks, but thats a personel choice.
72x36x22 is my next tank.
Go wider than 24" for depth.
All my previous tanks were 24".

Steel stands rust.
Aluminum tanks can oxidize, gets a white coating.
I use Aluminum for my light fixture and its coated.

Hahahaha, i seriously considered taking woodworking courses….

I was contemplating on going bigger but after doing water change and trying to maintain a 350G…. I want smaller where I only have to fill up one 50G brute tank LOL

I had a powder coated steel stand rust within a year, go aluminum
