So, I just got a used Nero 5 at a screaming deal nd want to see how they look and function in the back wall of a Red Sea reefer 350 or similar in pair. Or worth it to upgrade from my new pair of Jebao SOW8, which they’re dead silent!

Thanks!

I have the Nero 5s on the sides of my RSR 350 and Jebao ow-25s on the back. I have not put in any corals yet. They are quiet. Following along to hear comments

If I have two Nero 5s, I would get rid of the sows to achieve a cleaner look.

Do yourself a favour and buy a 3D printed guard for your Neros. There’s been numerous stories about fish being sucked in the back. It may never happen to you but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that it definitely won’t.

I have one nero 5 on the side and one on the back of my 65. I had to turn the one on the back down to max 45% to avoid blowing all the sand away from the front of my tank. The one on the side is at max 85% for the same reason. Both in random pattern. Also when connecting to them from the my AI app it sometimes takes a couple tries to connect. If they make noise I don't hear it.

That was one of the reasons I didn’t get the Neros till I got a used one And wonder if they’re any good

I got you. Since my tank will be mostly sps dominated and mounting in the back while cranking up would def blowing my sand around.

Do you mount them in the back and does your sandbed kicking up if you have sand?

I’ve got them mounted on the sides an I use larger sand (Carib sea natural reef) once my little frags start becoming colonies I plan on adding a third my tank isn’t really wide enough on the display side to benefit from putting them on the back glass
