Red Sea star looking not good :(

Purchased him today. He’s curled up and not moving. Just looking sad in general. Tank is fairly new. Up 3 months. Parameters are ok I think.

I think you purchased a difficult to keep sea star. If you can, return it because your aquarium has nothing for it to eat.

Tank is way too new for a starfish. Even difficult to keep in mature tanks. Return it if you can otherwise it’ll probably just die.

Agree with others, fromia and linckia stars are almost impossible to keep. Even in mature large tanks. It’s unfortunate they’re still imported imo

Looks like fromia and just as others said, its starving.

They need a micro film algae in long standing tanks to thrive, and even then it might still run out and starve.

Few individuals have good results with them, so they're a bit of a trap purchase for the unknowing.

There's very few starfish suitable for aquariums that aren't either predatory or so specific you might as well not bother unless its your whole thing. Serpent/nongreen brittle starfish are great, and several urchins are much easier to have.

I agree with others that the star wouldn't do well in a new tank and would starve.

But if you only bought it today, then it didn't starve in a few hours. Either it was already in very poor health when you bought it, or something is way off in your tank.

I would suggest to do a little more research on livestock before purchase.

I never had success with red sea stars, return it while it is still alive.
