Red Sea XL 200 Filtration Ideas

I've just started my 200, it's been running for a month so far.
I'm after any ideas on how to improve the mechanical filtration WITHOUT the use of a filter roller.
So far I've debated 3D printing an extension for the sock section to increase the floss section before it clogs up and overflows.
I've also debated a "screen" from the front glass back to the support wall for the sock section

Any ideas are welcome!

I'm meaning more physical removal of particulate before it gets into the main area of the sump

That is what I'm talking about. You could run an algae reactor either before or after the filter socks.
