Hi all,

I have recently got a reline Cleaner Shrimp and was just wondering about feeding at all?

Ive got it in a 20 gallon cube with 2 clownfish and a lawnmower blenny, I dont want to overfeed at all but the clowns seem to eat friggin everything without letting the cleaner get a chance. will the cleaner still find food/scraps to eat at all? or will i need to target feed somehow ( I dont have time for this thats all)

Thanks in advance!

Target. I always broadcast feed where shrimp get the same chance as the fish. But if that's not working, target. It will scavenge, but if the fish eat everything, then there's nothing to find.

No worries.. the fish will be fine for a couple days with no food.. Feed a normal schedule and one heavy meal right before you leave, then a heavy meal when you return. You would be surprised how much food the shrimp actually catches.

ill have an auto feeder on so thats ok :) but i dont want to overfeed thats all so I hope the shrimp can get some, he doesnt seem to get many of the micro pellets but they dont seem to sink very well so this could be an issue also. il buy some sinking spectrum pellets and see if he goes at them

Shrimp are scavengers. They really don't require feeding at all specifically. They get tiny bits we don't even see out of rock crevices and off the sand ect ect. I have had shrimp in my tanks as long as I have had them and have never target fed them at all. I simply feed the tanks and let them do their thing.
