I'm switching my 81g tank from all for reef to start using 2 part. I just got reef code A & B powder from brightwell and mixed up a gallon of each. The B (alk) mixed up clear and looks good but part A (calc) is very cloudy after sitting over night and has a layer of cloudyness that settles to the bottom. Is that normal or is something off? I tried setting it in hot water to help try and dissolve it all but it didn't seem to have any effect. I mixed 35g to 8oz of water (560g total for 1g). Just want to make sure before I add it to the tank.

I have the same issue with part A that happens to me. Did you end up ever figuring it out?

Try dilution it with an equal part of RO/DI.

A little bit of solid is OK. A lot of solid is not.

Be sure no traces of one part got in with the other. That precipitated mixture will neve redissolve.

Had the same thing happen today with the part A (Calcium). Tons of precipitate and VERY hot when mixing per instructions (which NOW allow for 70 g/8 oz). I had the 1KG container, mixed it w/a half gal of rodi in a BRS jug, as is typical with the BRS Cal Chloride I'm used to and I thought the jug was gonna melt! I shook it up and added the other half of the rodi water, but was left with a lot, maybe 3/4 inch of precipitate on the bottom no matter how much I shake it. Math is as follows:

1 gal = 128 oz. Directions indicat that stock solution is 70 g / 8 oz
128 oz / 8 oz = 16
16 x 70 g = 1120 g

So I mixed the entire container (1000g) with 1 gal, but perhaps developed precipitate (or maybe just undissolved material) since it was mixed with a half gal of water, then the other half after shaking? It just doesn't look right and I'm wondering how effective this will be with all this undissolved material.

Has anyone been able to dissolve this product? I purchased it since it has trace elements, but am calling this into question since this is wasted material. Interestingly, the ALK component had a SEAL on the jug, the CAL component that I'm talking about here did NOT. I find this strange and am wondering if this may have been tampered with. Either way, this doesn't inspire confidence and I'm wondering if it's even worth dosing.

So I recently have started to use the product as well. I grabbed the big 4kg bags and did as directed on the bag just like you said 70 gram for A-p and then 60 grams for B-p. Well that didn’t workout to well very thick cloudy water which though this can’t be right. I tried using it I did work but I was getting chunky stuff and noticed it started to get clogged. But this is the funny thing on the bags it says 70g and 60g but when you look up on their website and other sites it states 35g and 30g. So I have backed off and I believe I do 45 and 40 or 50 and 45. I see a little in the bottom but it is a stronger solution. Also I mix the reef code B-p in warm/hot water and A-p in cold water.

I quit using their products because of how poorly they mix at the recommended amounts. They are also way too expensive compared to much larger quantities of the good Dr.’s recipes.
