Do the probes need recalibrated like the apex probes, and get damaged if they dry out?

Tempted to use this as a secondary controller on my tank, and for redundancy. Is there an app to check and update things through as well?

Thanks!

The probes were taken out for pics and back in water. Not Dry and the only one that typically requires calibration is PH
