Aren't the MarsAqua lights like the same that I have?
they are.
sb are a small step up from them. I just bought one for my cube.
When it comes to up grade, do you have a budget? you may want to look into used gear. I picked 3 up ai Sols w controller for next to nothing for my 55g. 48x12x24

I can't say that I have an actual budget really, I just don't want to get something crazy expensive as it took a lot to get the tank all together ya know?

trust me i do know. I have two tanks.
a mars aqua is a galaxy hydro.2 @ 175. 2 16" sbreef ramping(spoil yourself) 500. i reefbreeders photon 48 new 639. used older 48 photon around 300. 4 used kessels 600? my 3 used ai sol w controller 400 2 ocean recive 247 $350 basically a knock off photon.

so at the 400-600 range you get a new lower but decent quality light maybe with ramping or something cool or a used high end light.
if you jus want to add some pizaz I used my older 48in current marine as a ramp up and down with my t5. SWEEET royal blues in the am and PM. I still use it with my sol's cuz it just looks that good.
the SB's have a similar color.

BRS rates the Kessil AP700 the best of the led's for even coverage over a wide area. They use 2 for their display tank along with some T 5's. Go to their web site and search for their 52 week buildout of their 160 gal. tank. If you can't find the video go to you tube. It's the most objective demo. I have seen comparing the best selling led's. I have 2 of them, and the light and coverage is very good.

Instead of buying new fixtures from sbreef they sell upgraded boards that will fit your existing black boxes
