Just recently got my hands on a reef mat 500. I love it so far and have no complaints. I am just curious on how long most of your replacement rolls last for on average and what your auto advance length settings are. There are many options to set the auto advance length from tiny increments to the full length of the filter chamber. Are there any advantages or disadvantages for doing either?

I'm still on my first roll. Coming up on about 1 month. Will all depend on how dirty the water is. You will see a decrease in roll consumption the more you use it. What you feed also will play a big part. I have it in the smallest advance setting. That way I keep the noise from the motor to a minimal and I don't have a big drop in water level in the roller itself and an increase to the the sump level..
