Reef mat issues

Hi, been having issues my reef mat all of a sudden. Didn't realise it wasn't working properly as the app did not say there was an issue, which in turn made me lose 3 fish...
Got it back up and running and it was advancing mat perfectly fine up until the last couple of days. Said there was jam, which I could not see. It now doesn't turn as much and when it does it seems like it is really tight.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Been trying to do research but there is so much to read and quote honestly my brain is struggling with it.
I have been trying to find where the sensor is for it to be cleaned, but can't find anything online that is clear.
I can see how to clean it but not what it is and how to remove it.
Any help is appreciated

Sorry but I don't see how a malfunctioning reefmat could cause fish deaths. I shut mine down at night often and let it overflow. Also myself and many others run tanks with no mechanical filtration.
I've not experiences the issues with mine that you have so I can't help I just thought you may want to look for other causes of your deaths..

Agreed....no way for the reefmat to be responsible for fish death. When mine stops working for whatever reason and I miss it, I can tell by elevated nutrients but that is it. Regarding it becoming tighter, I have noticed when the roll gets to be about 2/3 empty, it gets really tight and often reports a jam. I fix by removing the roll, cutting out all the used fleece, and reinstalling as if it is a new roll.
