Hey does anyone know how to connect 1 inch main drain down pipe to the red sea reef mat 500? I'm confused on how to make this work. I've got the corrugated tubing but I bought it used and it comes with adapted that works with the red sea plumbing but not American PVC.

I cant really help but I see you are from CO. If youre in the metro area reach out to Aquatic Art. They do professional tank stuff as well as a store, the might be able to come out and take a look and help you out

here is how my reefmat 500 hooks to the 1" PVC. the mat came with a union that threads into the corrugated tubing with sealant on it. Then the other end is pvc glued to the PVC pipe.

and heres a link to the Union that comes with the ReefMat.

So one end connects to the reef mat and then that union piece can be sealed into the tubing and connected to the PVC?

The end that goes to the reef mat is attached to the hose already. The other end isn't so you can trim the hose to the length you need and then attach it yourself.

I could be wrong, but from recent research and my understanding from watching a few YouTube’s of folks hooking them up to non Red Sea systems, you can glue the corrugated pipe directly to the 1” pvc. Only thing a union does is allow you to disconnect.

I got a 1200 and an extra hose. I plan on plumbing a frag tank and 15 gal display into a 40 breeder. Each tank will connect via hose to one side of reef mat.
