Reef Octo Classic 150-s no break in?

Just picked up a brand new skimmer, the Reef octopus Classic 150-s for my 120 gallon reef. I was expecting it to overflow and go crazy as soon I plugged it in, but it’s been at least 3 hrs and it’s producing yellow foam at the top of the neck and its flowing over into the skimmate cup nicely. Should I be worried that’s it’s going to overflow in the middle of the night? lol thanks

Things can change quickly during break-in; if you are truly worried about overflow, it's a good time to watch it/dial it back while you're away from home.

Sure its possible the cup might overflow at night, but your skimmer is in a sump so its not something to worry about at all. Just empty it in the morning and whatever overflowed will get skimmed back up.

With hob skimmers you need to be a little more careful as the overflow ends up on the floor.

PS- I also just bought the reef octopus classic 1000 hob skimmer, it did not have a normal break in period like other skimmers, it didn't foam excessively at all. It seems to work perfectly from the beginning, I've had it 3 weeks now.
