Can anyone tell me the recommended water height that this skimmer should be in.

I generally like to have my sump's be at a 10-12" depth just in case i need it, then make stands out of pvc and acrylic for the skimmer.

is that the same for the MSX160?

Basically everything is the same as the msx/swc 160 but the pinwheel. Unless its the newer model were the body is also a bit different than the swc160. There really isn't such a thing as a msx.

I have mine in 9 inches of water and it works great.
