Reef Octopus substitute skimmer pump

I have been running a Varios 6 pump for years but it is increasingly giving me trouble and parts are getting more and more expensive. Has anyone found a pug-and-play replacement for the Varis 6 needle wheel pump?

I just buy these type and fit them in they come in different sizes. Amazon has a few choices
