Hi today I done my first water change after setting up my tank three weeks ago. After changing 10% of my 250ltrs I did my water tests and this is what I got.

pH 8.2
Sg 1.024
KH 8.3
Alk 2.96
NH4 0
PO4 0.5
NO2 0.1
NO3 25
Ca 370
Mg 1140

So I dosed with Red Sea NO3:pO4-X which I have been doing over the past 4 days, the first two days I dosed at 4ml and the last two days I've been dosing at 7.5ml. No issues with skimmer. I've been putting the dose in the same chamber as my skimmer.
Tonight I also dosed with Red Sea reef foundation A 13ml which I intend to continue to do over the next 7 days. Then I dosed with Red Sea reef energy parts A+B 5 ml of each. At this point my Nyos Quantum skimmer went ape ****.

Question is did I do something wrong? Should I of put it in my pump side? Should I have put it in slowly?

Permit is a first time reef/marine aquarium.

Is this a new tank...meaning you didn't transfer from one tank to this one? What if any corals are in the tank? If it's a new tank you likely do not need to be dosing anything...yet. Also, how are you testing your alk?

Give us some details.

Yes this is a new tank, I've had my Amonia spike and now it's just the rising of my nitrates so using nopox to remove it.

Corals: one zoa garden, 2 zoa frags, large mushroom, a touch and a hammer.

All tests are done with salifert test kits except the Sg an pH.

pH 8.2 check
Sg 1.024 slightly low, add more salt to the mix,
KH 8.3 Check
Alk 2.96 KH is ALK
NH4 0 check
PO4 0.5 to high, do some more water changes.
NO2 0.1 yes water changes and skim
NO3 25 check
Ca 370 low, dose CAL to the tank water
Mg 1140 low same dose more MAG

I wouldn't dose any of the energy parts A+B just yet for a long time.
There's enough food in the tank as why your skimmer went crazy.
Besides corals you have a fish or a clean up crew ( CUC ) in there?

What's the best way to increase the salt mix?

I do have fish and a clean up crew.

I will stop dosing the reef energy for now.

You can top off with salt water instead of RODI water till you reached the desired magic # of 1.o26.
How do you test your SG #?

I'm sure my LFS gave 25 ltr of RO instead of salt and I did a water change and my SG dropped to 1.021

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
