reef synergy and bean animal

i have the 20'' reef synergy over flow for 220 build and i am wondering if this plumbing fitting will work. the hole in the end is about 1/2'' instead of the normal 1/4'' hole that is drilled in the end.

Got with reef synergy via email and they said piece will work just drill 1/4'' hole in plug the hole without the plug is too big.
