Hi I’m new to Reefing and have a 1.5 month old 40gal with two clowns . My salanity is at 1.020 and I would like to get it to 1.024/.1.025. Can I do 5 gallon water changes of the 1.025 every week until it gets to where I want? Or will this harm fish?

Also is it bad to change the salt mix I use this early? I would like to go with a higher quality but I don’t want to mess anything up

Don’t do it by water change. Just replace evaporated water with the new salt water until you reach your target.

Changing mixes is fine. Just be aware of how it may change alk.

Thanks so much!

Can you make it simple of how I should move forward. I want to do a water change today. I don’t want to hurt my clowns I love them lol

Do whatever normal water changes you would otherwise do with salinity matching your target. I assume they are not huge.

Then also do the evaporation replacement I suggest.

Okay great I will do a 10 percent water change with the new solution today and make it my target salinity. And when it’s time to top off use salt water till I hit my mark
