For this episode, we traveled to Pompano Beach, Florida to visit our good friend and well known author, Lance Ichinotsubo of Elite Marine Life by Captive Seas to talk about hyposalinity.

With Lance, we spoke of history of the hyposalinity. Proper ways to plan and execute it. Pros, cons and medicating during treatment.

Take a look and see how you can utilize this method for your own system.

Enjoy!

Wow. Those are really low salinity levels. I always thought it was under 1.09.

Wangspeed, I think you mean 1.009. Our normal specific gravity for reef tank is around 1.023 to 1.025.

Lance doesn't like it around 1.008 or 9 like some decides to put their fish in. He prefers slightly elevated numbers as stated on the video.

Very informative, good to get the caution on raising salinity too fast. I am curious however about the dosage of chloroquine, does it change as the salinity changes?
