Hey all! Just wanted to share an update on my tank and get your opinion on my future stocking list. Tank was set up with cycled live rock from my LFS and live sand. Running a Hydra 32HD, reefmat 250, Red Sea ATO+, 2) 100watt heaters and inkbird controller, and about 10lbs of live rock in the sump. Currently have a cleaner shrimp and and a few snails and hermits. Got a pair of Mocha Storm Clowns on the way but wanted to get feedback on my future options for fish.
-yellow watchman/pistol shrimp
-royal gramma or fire fish(still haven’t decided.
-McCosker’s Flasher Wrasse
-(way later on) ruby red dragonet
- tiger serpent star

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

Im going to follow along because I have reefer 170 as well. Ive been through all kinds of gear and feel pretty dialed now. Get a lid with the watchman, my little guy jumped straight through quarter inch net. I also tried a beautiful captive bred royal gramma, got a little territorial in the small tank so I rehomed. Tank is much more friendly now.

Stock list looks good. I went with pink streak wrasse, is my favorite fish thus far. My clownfish are the only ones poorly behaved.

Dont let anyone tell you that you wont have enough pods for a dragonet in a tank that size.... my mandarin is fat as a hippo. Id say if all things are nailed in youll be ready by month 3.

If i had any advice to give id say get a diamond goby and a tiger conch to keep your sand fresh. Nessarius snails help me out alot too.

Have fun :D
