Reefer 350

Got into the hobby with a Fluval 13.5 back in October 2021. Before the Fluval was even set up, I decided I needed a bigger aquarium and went with a waterbox 35.2. Enjoying the hobby my wife and I went fish crazy and needed a bigger tank (darn . Ordered a Redsea reefer 350. It was delivered today. Assembled the stand. Each bag was marked with letters and they correspond with the instructions… very organized. Watch out for the feet. You have to hit ‘em with a mallet to get ball inside of the base. When it clicked it it pinched my fingers. I only did that once. Haha. Other pic is my big Ralph, the flame hawkfish, watching me assemble his new home.
Clamps were used because I used wood glue during assembly for extra strength. I plan on dying in this house so no need to disassemble in the future.

The tank is set up but there was some damage in shipping that I didn’t notice until unboxed. Some chipping. A couple of emails later and some shredding of serial number stickers I was told a new one was on its way. Chips on bottom corners. Look like they would be ok but why chance it. Redsea got a customer for life for taking care of me with very few questions asked. Installed led strip lighting in the cabinet. Got an controller panel coming in too. My little waterbox 35.2 in the reflection. My phyto culture too. Don’t mind the ugly power outlet. That’ll get cleaned up after everything is in place. Going with Tunze power heads, maxspect jump 2k. Dual Neptune sky’s hung from ceiling with RmS kit. Fun fun fun. Just got shipping confirmation for next Wednesday delivery of replacement tank.

Ah, almost forgot. Skimmer came too. Redsea 300.

Put a thin layer of crushed coral and aragonite mix, along with some live rock that has been marinating in an established holding tank. Added some Dr Tim’s One and Only as a precaution. I shouldn’t need it since I plan on transferring the live rock from the old aquariums. Used a Ai Prime 16 just to provide some light. The plan is two Neptune sky’s.

Skimmer in and off, since I dropped the bottle bacteria in there. Don’t mind the wires. Just trying to get the water up to temp. Will clean it all up when I get the apex and adaptive reef mounting board in.

Hung the two Neptune sky’s with the Ecotech RMS rail and hanging kit.

Coming along, added @Kraken Reef lid to the setup. I’ve purchased four of their lids. Don’t be turned off by the cost. They are awesome and the service is excellent.

Don’t think anyone reads or cares, but I added an MP40 to one side of the aquarium, provides great flow. I like the controllability. Also, a pic of our @Biota_Marine mandarin, named “Mandy.” Received her tiny and she’s really fattening up.

Not feeling the reefer 300 skimmer. Going to look for something smaller.

With the addition of the fleece roller, I lost space where the refugium was. So I turned the ATO tank into a refugium
.

The sump is pretty packed now, maintenance will be fun.
