Hello all, I am buying a used red sea reefer 450. It has a custom stand and really clean underneath with a simplicity sump and a few other extras. to be honest this will be the first tank I will not have built from the ground up with a full plan. that being said I am looking for advise on what other reefers with 5ish foot long tanks are doing for their flow( how many pumps and placement of said pumps) and lighting used( how many units and what type of corals grown under them). I have been reefing for about 15+ years and had many different tanks. I currently have a 40ish gal. sps dominated tank. planning on moving all of the coral into the new tank as well. i will be posting pictures as i get things going. thanks in advance for any comments and pics to go along.

Just received a 350 on Friday. Stand is built and I'm almost done painting the sump. Following along.

Is yours a v3 sump?

Finally getting a chance to update my build thread. Got the new tank about 2 months ago and have been ordering all the equipment. Allot of stuff was backordered or on delay so things have been slow. But any way here are some fotos of where i am at and what is going on. I have a bunch of diy going on in the canopy, feel free to ask questions. I might start a different thread on the diy page. Pic of picking up the tank then where it sat in the garage

These are of the canopy i built. I used 2040 extrusion that i cut to size and assembled. It hinges up to allow more room when i am doing maintenance. It is going to be a t5 led hybrid

Bulbs are in and canopy is ready for stain. All 3 wood sides are removable and the light rack hinges up for access into the tank. Now to finish the plumbing

Merry Christmas Everyone! Today was a productive day. Last plumbing part came in so finishing that up. Stained and sealing the canopy boards and finally getting water in the tank. 30’ of RO tubing to run from upstairs down into the tank. Hoping to mix up some saltwater tomorrow

Things are moving along, i have had the tank up and running for about 2 weeks with sand and cycled rock. I went with the Aqua Forest sand and i must say it is beautiful. After a week of running i tested the water and things looked good so i got some tester fish and put in some chunks of coral yo see howready the tank would be for the “Great Migration” as i am calling it. Everything in the Reefer 450 is doing great so i think i am going ahead with the “Great Migration” today. So i am gunna break down the 40 gallon and move everything to the 450. Wish me luck.

The move was a success and the old tank is broken down and moved out of the house. I had fun aquascaping and ended up rearranging things a few times over the next couple of nights. Also got most everything done under the tank as well

Where do you have the hydros water level sensor mounted for your klir and how are you liking that setup?
