Reefer 750XXL Build

I am new to aquariums (fresh or salt) and this is my first build after several months of research. So far so good. I started out considering the 425XXL or 525XXL (or custom equivalents) and up-sold myself to the 750 with full Apex system under the philosophy of good big or go home. You can literally do almost anything through reading blogs and online articles and watching YouTube videos.

why did you take out the filter socks holders?
can you explain more about how you went from metric to standard plumbing. looks like most ppl use tape.

I wanted a larger refugium to get closer to having refugium(s) at 10% of the volume or minimum recommended for the Triton method. I'm hope to try to avoid or at least significantly limit water changes through the Triton method. I also added a small refugium after the Skimmer and reactors just before the bubble trap. I'll add some pics later.

As for metric to standard, a Dremmel tool, PVC glue and either the Wye valve for the return or the metric to standard couplers from BRS for the others.

I would have loved the Red Sea 750 for my first but ended up getting the 425. The cost and water need to go bigger was more then I think I wanted.

Thanks! Yeah, when I thought about the cost of water, I quickly realized I’d save a lot by getting an RODI system. I got the 7 stage, 100 gal/day BRS and put it in my laundry room.

Wife is not too happy about the water tank or shelf, but that arrangement and the “beer bong” ATO reservoir filler are a temporary solution.
