Reefer DC 600 with recirculating CO2 scrubber... anyone???

Hi all! Thanks for reading this!

I want to get a Red Sea DC600 Skimmer and wanted to know if anyone has had experience using it with a recirculating CO2 scrubber.

OR tell me what might be better.

I'm leaning toward the self-leveling DC model because, well, it's my first skimmer, and it seems easy... and I already have the controller.

I have a red sea dc skimmer with an Ice Cap CO2 scrubber hooked up to- not recirculating works great for me.

What kind of pH drop/changes are you getting between changing your CO2 media?

Have the same model. Currently have it set up recirculating in an ice cap scrubber. Bought a kit that goes on top of the cup and under the lid with a 3/8” barb along with some plugs for the top of the lid. I would highly recommend considering what you want to do with the humid air. Water collects at the bottom of my scrubber at an alarming rate. To the point I’m pretty sure it kills the media before it is spent

PH stays around 8.3 for me and when it drops down below 8.0 I change it.

In the picture you can see a couple of lines running to the left. The top gets fed to a cup that has a two barbs on the lid. I stuffed some bubble trap sponge in it to try and get the water to condense on that. I’m honestly not sure if that helped or if just the long run of tube has helped. It still eventually makes its way to the bottom of the scrubber though and I don’t really have a good solution that doesn’t involve adding more stuff which I’m just not going to do at this point.

Ah, thank you for the info! I've read that moisture does help the scrubber media be more effective, but it sounds like you're saying it gets downright wet, not just moist.

Correct. I can eventually see water clinging from one piece of media to another throughout. I don’t think this would be nearly as much of a problem without the recirculation. I probably will try to run without the recirc at some point when I feel like redialing in the skimmer

Sorry to “revive” this post but by any change do you have a picture of the attachment to the silencer side? I believe mine has air 2 inlets, just wondering how did you connected everything. Thanks

All good. I just pulled the entire silencer off. Cut a piece of 3/8” (I think) clear tube that will reach from the inlet at the base of the skimmer to the scrubber. The black tube that connects to the silencer probably won’t be long enough. Pushed that onto the top of that red inlet piece that the silencer was connected to and just connect the other end to the scrubber.

I’ll get you a picture if that doesn’t make sense.
