There are a lot of rewards for keeping a reef tank, with that comes a lot of challenges too. What do you think is the largest challenge in keeping your little slice of reef in your home??
 
The biggest for me is that point right before your tanks a year old and everything has been stable the past 3-4 months and BOOM something goes wrong. Most new guys quit there. I feel like its a make or break point in the hobby lol.
 
I agree with expense. The electricity bill is ridiculous. The utility keeps sending us letters that compares us to our neighbors, and it is humiliating. :(

If I had the money to buy better equipment it would be so much easier

I'm at this point now and really struggling keeping with it at this point. Glad to read that others went though this and persevered.
 
Convincing my wife that I needed to cut a hole in the wall so we could view the tank from the living room. (Tank is in the garage )
