The unit was new and sealed in the box today. I have had it in the spare room since 2013. I hooked everything up on the floor to make sure it all functions. Everything was working. Moved it over to my tank and it has been mirrored and upside down since than.

I tried updating the firmware and it completed successfully but no change to the display.

I wish I had answers for you. Have you tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in? (not a joke, lol)

Yes I have. Also opened it up and removed the battery for about 15 minutes.

It's a very strange problem. Again, I wish I had something constructive to tell you. I love my RK and bought a gently used one as a backup/spare, but it's got some glitches... Since there hasn't been support for years, you may not be able to fix it.

When you updated the firmware did you hook a powered PC4 on the bus with the head unit? Some computer USB ports do not have enough voltage to update the secondary memory without using a PC 4 to power the bus.

No, I just have the handheld unit plugged into the USB on the laptop.

I tried it this evening with the pc4 and the rke and it worked perfectly. Thank you both for your help.
