Hey all,

Been a long time lurker sucking ideas and advice from everyone's build threads...so it's time to return the favor. This is an upgrade from a 90g mixed reef which had a ton of success early on, but too many shortcuts and "eh...I'll be fine" moments really turned things for the worse. Unfortunately I learn some things the hard way...

So no shortcuts this time. In short, I believe my issues with my 90g were high metal levels (exposed wetside magnets on Jebao powerheads), not maintaining parameters (alk/cal/mag) consistently, zero nutrients & algae issues (hair/bubble algae), and flow issues (way too many dead spots).

This tank will be predominantly SPS (thanks @FarmerTy for making it a necessary obsession). So here's to a new start!

Here is my new setup:

230g (72"H x 30"D x 25"H) Planet Aquarium tank w/ Tideline ghost overflow
75 DIY Sump
Full Neptune Apex System w/ Trident, DOS (x2), other misc modules
Kessil a360x Lights (x3), T5s (x4 - 2 Blue+/Coral+), Orphek Blue Plus LED Bar
Jebao DCP 15000 Return Pump
Maxspect Gyre 350 Powerhead (x2) & Tunze Nanostream 6095 Powerhead (x2)
Eheim Jager Heaters (300w & 250w)
ReefOctopus Classic 150Int 6" Protein Skimmer (will be upgraded at some point)
Auqa Gadget Titanium Hydrofill ATO
BRS Dosers (x3)
BRS Carbon Reactor

Will have an auto water change setup for 2g/day via DOS. Dosing will be maintained by Trident.

Current livestock transferred from 90g:

Banggai Cardinal
Black Ice Clownfish
Snowflake Clownfish
Melanurus Wrasse
Yellow Tang
Flame Fin Tang
Yellow Tail Damsel
Lyretail Anthias

Currently working on the canopy and hopefully will have light soon. Thanks for tuning in!

Very nice job. Looks good. I waited almost a month before letting the trident control dosing

Yeah figured it would be a waste of reagents to start now...since I don't have corals in there yet. Honestly wasn't expecting to get my hands on one so soon, but got the call from BRS about a month ago.
