Reefrun 7000 dc pump - can it be run without controller?

Before I open the box, just wondering if this pump is able to run without the controller. The box looks like it says it requires a controller, but I’m wondering if that’s only to gain the app benefits and other control features of it. Will it function purely as a pump without a controller? On / off if plugged in or not? Needing to temporarily swap out my skimmer pump.
