Hey guys, I decided to pick up a refractometer for my new tank, unfortunately the scale in the refractometer differs from the manual. It instead shows the saturation point up to 25? Idk if this is something I can convert or should I just return this thing? Thanks in advanced!

25 ppt? If so cant be used as it's too low. We use 35 p.p.t. salinity, or 1.025 specific gravity. Make sure to get a refractometer rated for sea water.

Thats all I needed to know. I ordered one that was supposed to be but for some reason the packaging and even instructions were different then what was actually in it. I’ll exchange it.

Thanks for the help!

There are many types of refractometers for many purposes. Some read in different types of units like Brix, but even if it reads in specific gravity that doesn’t always mean it is suitable for our purposes.
