Depends on which light you want. I grew macro for a while using just a 100 watt equivalent LED in the Clamp on Reflectors. Switched to a $50 grow light from Amazon (think black box, but in the red/purple grow spectrum) and haven't looked back. Much faster growth rate.

I use this, works very well. I tried clamp ons, with led grow bulbs, various other fixtures. This one is the best I’ve used with noticeable results

this Light is hot to touch, it doesnt use fans for cooling. So make sure it’s not against Combustibles.

Yes I have used an ~$8 bulb from home depot for many years on my chaeto and red mangroves. But recently I also added a red led fixture from amazon
