has anyone used the lights from Home Depot or Lowe’s for refugium?

Yeah I heard of some guys use in the shop grow lights from Lowe’s to grow Chaeto

Depends on which light you want. I grew macro for a while using just a 100 watt equivalent LED in the Clamp on Reflectors. Switched to a $50 grow light from Amazon (think black box, but in the red/purple grow spectrum) and haven't looked back. Much faster growth rate.

Amazon has large selection of led grow lights that work great.

We use a 9 watt generic LED plant light from the hardware store. Cost under $15. Works great.

I use this, works very well. I tried clamp ons, with led grow bulbs, various other fixtures. This one is the best I’ve used with noticeable results

this Light is hot to touch, it doesnt use fans for cooling. So make sure it’s not against Combustibles.

It’s hot to the touch, i Wouldn’t keep my hand on it,

Yes I have used an ~$8 bulb from home depot for many years on my chaeto and red mangroves. But recently I also added a red led fixture from amazon

I just took a reading with my fluke temp gun 68.9 C.... is the temp of the case, back side right above the leds. The rest of the fixture was 66 C
