I purchased a grow light about 2 months ago primarily for the wattage and its super compact size. It hung perfectly under the tank above the refugium and all was well until it burned out... I was bummed but I thought it must have been a dud and went to get the same thing and they stopped making it of course. So I ordered the updated newer one and it came. Same wattage and everything only its way brighter. And I noticed it was hot so I checked out the comments on it and some saif they used it on their refugium and it worked great for the marco algae but the "UV's" killed all its inhabitants. Now I like many of you have my copapod population in there and am now concerned. Have any of you heard of this happening? I could possibly see this intense light killing a fish or something but the copapods? What do you guys think. I keep it on for 12hrs a day. Thanks

Sounds fishy... Is it a uv light? Which fixture exactly did you buy?

Got it off Amazon.. doesn't say anything about anywhere about being a UV light. That comment does sound fishy. Its alot brighter, its even getting past the diffusers on the back of the tank stand.

Lol, I've had the exact same fixture over my fuge for about 6 months now. It is not a uv light. And it doesn't kill anything. It grows chaeto pretty well though!

Wow! I had a UV light in my tank decades ago. It didn't produce anywhere near that kind of brilliance
