Hi Randy

Some of my corals are going through slight STN episode.

Tanks parameters:

kH - 8.2
Magnesium - 1375
Calcium - 400
pH - 7.8 - 8
Nitrates - 10
Phosphate -0.03 or slightly more

Planning to do an ICP test but it will take weeks for me to get the results.

I'm thinking could it be heavy metals causing this issue? in that case till ICP results comes can i use Magnesium Hydroxide to remove any heavy metals in the tank?

thanks

Faz

You can run cuprisorb so that if there’s in fact metal it will pull it out. I did it once not sure if it did help. I need to send out my icp too

If needed, use a metal binder like metasorb or cuprisorb. I would not presume it is needed though.

I would not dose magnesium hydroxide as it will raise pH and alk, and not impact metals much, if at all.
