Hi, I took in/rescued a few colonies of Zoas and they are finally opening up. They never would open up in the tank they were in.

Could use your experienced eye to identify them. They are still not opened up all the way but you can see the colors. Kinda have to zoom in.

Tentacles are green, then there's a blue ring, then a orangish ring, then another blue and the mouth/center looks green.... I'm a tad color blind so not 100%. Been looking online but no luck with an ID. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks almost like eagle eyes, except the center is green. I have a colony of eagle eyes and one of the polyps has a green center, just like yours.

Yeah, that's what I thought but the center threw me off. Should I be able to say they are eagle eyes? Eventually I would like to trade/give with friends or a LFS. The name would help.

Also have more opening up that look like Creamsicles. They have a nice white ring and hardly have opened, can't hardly wait to see them healthier. I wonder why they wouldn't take to the other tank they were in. My buddy does maintenance on reefs/tanks and said he's seen it where stuff just won't open up or thrive.

Mine is newly set up but I used sand, live rock and water from another tank. So far so good. I'll post updates when the others open up too. I see yellow tentacles and a few different orange colonies also.

Thanks for the reply

Nice colony. I'd say eagle eyes or watermelons.
I just looked watermelon up and they look the same as EE, maybe more reddish though. After a quick search, noticed there is some confusion between them. What's the difference?

Either way, I really wanted the Eagle Eyes look. Glad I took these in and they're opening up. So far all the colonies I took in look to be really awesome.

Eagle eyes can have a more yellowish skirt where watermelons can have more green. They look very similar so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a different morph of the same zoa.

Hi all, been busy lately, here's a little update. Zoas have been doing great, most are now growing and their diameters have also other still lacking color and size. Have been having trouble finding names for some, especially when they aren't colored up. Those others definitely look like Radioactive DEs. Here some pics of rescued Zoas. I purchased the ones on the frag plug and they looked almost all the same color center. Under my light they have a blue ring. Thanks for helping with the ID
