Currently setting up a 20 gallon AIO and seeing what you guys think how my cycle is going and parameters at the one week mark.
Setup with 2-3lbs of live rock in middle chamber, 10lbs live sand, 20lbs caribsea life rock, and 4.5 live branching rock in display, dosed Dr Tim’s in the morning and added 2 clowns in the afternoon as ammonia source now after one week these are my water parameters.
-Pro reef salt mix Meersalz Tropic Marin:

8.0 Ph
Salinity 1.024
Ammonia 0.50 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate 11ppm
Phosphate 0ppm
Alk 12.5 dKH
Calcium 442ppm
Mag 1096ppm

How do you guys think my cycling is going so far?

Fine and done here’s why, per updated cycling rules:

your stated ammonia needs a tan conversion it’s .05 or less, safe, hence fish alive and well

bottle bac becomes immune to full water changes in about two days after dosing, so you’re past that. It’s means the filter bac have adhered to all surfaces. (Dr Reefs bottle bac thread is ninety pages of bottle bac testing using full water changes to assess grab time across strains)

your live rock component alone would have carried the fish fine, by itself, you’re done via compounding. my friend online here tested bottle bac alone and out of the bottle Dr Tims lowered test ammonia in a few minutes, even without the live rock portion the dosed bottle bac handled fish waste just fine, they weren’t harmed in the least.

Sweet thanks for your insight! So you think I’m done cycling? I tested before dosing and adding everything and it was 0 across the board when it comes to Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. So I know the nitrogen cycle started by daily testing but wasn’t sure if it was done? I wanted to wait until Ammonia zeros out before I added any more fish and I haven’t had a diatom bloom yet.

0.5 ppm ammonia seems substantial to me.

Is it trending down?
Just test again today it’s unfortunately not to long after a light mysis feeding

Ammonia 0.25 ppm
Nitrite 0.25 Nitrite
Nitrate around 10ppm used a colorimetric test today so not as precise as LFS’s Hanna testing machine

Sure not a problem. I just added the filter floss to the top of my filter sponge maybe an hour ago, and running live rubble rock as filter media in middle compartment.

So I tested just now on day 9 Ammonia dropped to 0.10ppm
Nitrite to 0.25ppm
Nitrate 10ppm
Yesterday and today are the first days I’m registering any type of Nitrite. Does this mean anything and okay even though I have a pair of clowns in there?

I dont rate cycles by the param levels people report, accuracy ranges too much.
mine are assessed based on the combos stated in post 2

if you listed eight ppm, we have many, it still wouldn’t change my take.

Cool thank you I don’t want to chase numbers but was just curious, I appreciate it!
