What return pump is recommended that actually stays at a constant speed? I have a Neptune cor20 and it likes to vary up and down just enough to make my overflow noisy. It’s set not to do this but does anyway. I’m done with it. Sometimes it’ll flow faster for a while and cause my ato to kick on. Then it slows down and causes the water to be high enough in the sump that evaporation causes salinity to rise. IMO cor20 is junk. I have two. They both do it.

I would look more at your overflow setup than your return pump.

How is your overflow set up?
It’s not the overflow. It’s the pump. You can watch the rpm’s surge. That coincides with the overflow being too full or too low and noisy. It does this for about 3 or four days every few weeks. Then all of a sudden goes back to normal and quiet. Maybe it just needs taken off the internet. Idk what else would cause it. The whole system is wired on its own breaker with heavy wire. It’s all built on overkill. I’m going to use a better pump. I’m just wondering what stays consistent.

That's bizarre. Did neptune say anything about it?

I use a Reef octopus Varios 6 return pump, couldn't be happier with it. Dead silent operation, strong flow. Comes with a barb attachment so you can connect a length of silicone tubing to your return lines to cut down on vibration. Comes with an optional float switch so you can't accidentally run it dry.

I would open it up to clean it and see if it’s doing that because something is wrong first, maybe something is affecting the impeller or the outlet is partially blocked

I am currently using an inexpensive Jebao DCP-5000 and even that is very consistent

Running a Varios 10 and is super quiet at 32% and does not go up and down in RPM. You might have a pump issue if rpm is changing, or if connected to apex the app might be doing that.

For what sized tank?
I have used Vectras on both my 240 and my 66 and never saw this issue.
I currently use Red Dragons on my 240.
This is the second time I have read where this issue is present. Don't remember they pump used in the other thread.

It’s an eshopps M130. I have the cor20 set at 65%

I've had a Vectra M2 on my 66 for 3-4 years and it just keeps moving water, no issue. I've used VarioS pumps with no issues.

I hate to say it but this sounds like user error.
I also run a Cor20. Have you adjusted the flow band in the Apex settings? It appears like a powerband style graph that can be adjusted in 1% increments and in your case instead of a straight line likely have it a gradual curve meaning it is changing all day.

Is set at 65% max, 64% min. It’s a straight line 100% on the graph.

Is the pump calibrated in the apex app? Have you taken it out and checked for possible clogs or debris? Maybe clogs in the drain parts? What are you using for drain pipes straight non valve? Or do you have valves? Gate valve or ball valve? Have you checked power consumption from within the apex app? Is that going steady? Could be a power supply issue, and can’t rule that out.

As for drain, gate valves and ball valves can get bubbles behind the internal shutoff and cause flow changes. I like to open them at full speed once in a while and let anything stuck in them flow into the sump filters. Just some extra thoughts and questions I have not seen asked or answers.

Also, being its electronic device I have had instances where it hangs and needs to be powered down and rebooted to get my settings back in line.
If all else fails contact neptune support. They've been great in my previous experiences and helped me get things sorted ahead of physically/baselessly having to send equipment in to let them assess.
