RFA on a walkabout - advice needed

Ok, so I just recently got my first RFA and I could use some advice. Initially I placed the little guy on the tank floor(bare bottom) and it stayed put for about a day. Now the darn thing has decided to make its way up the glass and is about 6 inches from the top. My questions - Can I move it? How do I move it without injuring it? What are the odds it moves back down to a more reasonable location on its own?

There's no point it moving it. It'll just go wherever it wants and all you'll do is tick it off.

Yeah... I have had some luck blocking them for going certain places by putting down small rocks in their way, but on the glass there isn't much you can do. I'm guessing it will probably move back down eventually because they generally don't like to be totally exposed.

Darn, that's what I was afraid of lol. I guess as long as it doesn't go into my powerheads I'm ok lol

I have found for the 1st few days when getting new rock nems if I leave moonlights on, just the minimum, it keeps that initial walking around down when they 1st arrive. Now if they are not happy in a spot they will walk anyway, but moonlight really helps, I then go back to regular total dark at night.

RFAs have 2 favorite spots, IMHO. First is with their foot just below the surface of the sand along the edge of a rock. Second is in a hole it the rock deep enough for it to retract into.

I keep 30+ in pvc end caps that I then place in the sand and they almost never move.

Thanks for chiming in Ron! Your thread is actually what turned me on to RFA's in the first place :D I'll go read through it again since its been quite a while that I've checked it out.
