It looks like when you got him he had still been recovering from a split. And in your last pic it’s fully healed so your coral shows good growth there but could your water parameters have changed recently or anything that might have stressed the mushroom

Yes that's why I'm nervous he has been great! I have a ricordia right next to it that is fine! And all other corals are fine

Okay the stringy stuff is the zooxanthellae and a coral will express this under stress so something may be bugging the coral weather a pest or possibly something with your water?
