If i do a rip clean, can I use my same tank water, or do I have to restart with new water (150 gal)

When I did a rip clean the tank was a mess again a month later so I consider it waste of my time. I would try to determine the cause of the problem and correct that first. I attribute my algae problem to using dry rock and the tank being too small for herbivore fish. I have no algae issues in my other tanks that were started with live rock and house tangs

All this was a waste of time for me

How do you rip clean the old water
You replace it. It is fine to use to rinse off the rocks after scrubbing and for holding the rocks once they are clean. Again I would not rip clean anything aside from maybe pumps and things like that, but thats me. I feel its an extreme bandage for a properly handled issue with proper husbandry. I say bandage because if your tank got to the point a rip clean was warranted it will do so again.

Case in point! Perfect timing. I am in no way poking fun at you @exnisstech smaller tanks are not easy but its easy for them to get out of hand.

How far gone is your tank that you feel like you have to do this? Post some pic of your tank, maybe we can help you. As @exnisstech said, it could be a huge waste of time, effort and saltwater for nothing.

To late, I just spent 1/2 a day scrubbing 90 lbs of rock with a wire brush, I'm making 125 gal of new water. And I'm thinking of going bare bottom for a little while

Good luck with your reboot!

Hope things go well. I was fortunate to have multiple tanks so when the one was a mess I could still enjoy the others.
I love bare bottom. The only tanks i have sand in these days are my small ones where I'm keeping some stuff that need sand.

EDIT: Keep us updated.
