What are your thoughts on having 1 inch tall pvc columns under my rock so it’s still has a solid base on the glass but keeps the rock up so only an inch of sand is actually covering my coral when I have 2 inches of sand?

I'd definitely lower the sand instead....but if you think it's worth the bother (of more sand AND of having to install legs on your rocks) then go for it. As long as you do a good job, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Is the tank already built, meaning you would have to basically take it apart to rise it that 1 inch? That would seem like an awful lot of work - and stress to the livestock - to get just one inch.
