That is the spelling from roesmarineworld.com, here is a pic. Small green fingers, tanish face with pale yellow mouth.

Last sunday at the swap i was told there is info on these in "corals of the world" by J.E.N. Vernon. A $160 book set isnt in my budget, if someone who has these books could look them up give some info it would be appreciated.

If your talking about the photo on the right, second up, I'd be worried about that black sponge on that rock...it could choke out your coral. I'd take it out of the water for a couple of minutes to expose it to air, squish out some of the water with a gloved finger and then using a pair of tweezers, peel off as much as possible. At least that's what it looks like from this angle...can you get a closer / clearer picture?

The family is Rhizangiidae. There is only one genus/species listed-Astrangia poculata. Sounds like a range of descriptions, though. Colonies are encrusting, submassive, or branching, can be zooxanthellate or azooxanthellate. The areas shown in Corals of the World are right along the Gulf Coast (Ms, AL, Tx, La, etc.), up the east coast of the US, and another light, gridded area (Eastern US is solid color) along the north west coast of Africa. Apparently, other names are A. danae and A. astreoformis, though CotW only lists A. poculata as official.

BTW, some of the pictures look a lot like the Caribbean Cup Corals that several have asked about lately, though the pictures vary as much as the description.
